Description

A solid stainless steel grill grid that turns the CUBE fire basket into a barbecue. It drops into the recesses inside the CUBE, and because those recesses sit at several heights you can bring the grid close to the embers for a hard sear or lift it away for gentler, slower cooking. Built-in handles let you move it while the fire is going, so the same fire that warms the terrace in the evening cooks dinner beforehand.

What's in the box

  • CUBE Cooking Grid

The CUBE Fire Basket is sold separately.

Safety information

Use the grid only on the CUBE Fire Basket, outdoors, on a fireproof surface and at least 3 metres from anything flammable. Burn dry hardwood only, up to 3 kg per load, as set out in the CUBE Fire Basket manual.

The grid reaches high cooking temperatures and stays hot long after the fire has died down. Move it by the built-in handles using heatproof gloves or a grill tool, never bare hands, and keep it out of reach of children until it has cooled completely.

What the grid adds to your CUBE

Three cooking heights, one grid

Three cooking heights, one grid

The inside of the CUBE carries recesses at three levels. Drop the grid into the top pair to keep food well above the heat, the middle for everyday grilling, or the lowest pair to sear right over the embers. Changing height takes seconds and means you can move food off the heat without putting the fire out.

Solid steel, with the handles built in

Solid steel, with the handles built in

The grid is one piece of polished stainless steel, heavy enough to hold its shape over a live fire. The handles are formed into the grid itself, so there is nothing to attach and nothing to lose. Lift it in or out with heatproof gloves or a tool while the fire is still going.

From fire basket to barbecue

From fire basket to barbecue

Set the grid in place and the CUBE becomes an outdoor grill: corn, sausages, vegetables, a whole dinner cooked over wood. Lift it back out at the end of the evening and you have the open fire again.

Frequently asked questions

Does this fit the CUBE Fire Basket?

Yes. The grid is made for the CUBE Fire Basket and drops straight into the recesses inside it, with no tools or fixings. It will not fit the BEER BOX Fire Basket, the MOON Fire Basket or the CIRCLE 35 Tabletop Grill.

Is the fire basket included?

No. This listing is the cooking grid on its own. If you do not already own one, add the CUBE Fire Basket to your order as well.

How do I control the cooking temperature?

Move the grid to a different pair of recesses. The lowest position sits closest to the embers for searing, the highest lifts the food further from the heat for slower cooking. You can change position mid-cook using the built-in handles and a pair of heatproof gloves.

How do I clean it?

Burn off the worst of the residue while the fire is still hot, then let the grid cool completely and scrub it with a grill brush and hot soapy water. Polished stainless steel discolours with use over an open fire. That is normal and does not affect how it performs.
